Meet Kojo Asamoa-Caesar the first-ever Ghanaian-American to run for US Congress: In a historic win, educator and community leader Kojo Asamoa-Caesar has triumphed in the Democratic Primary.
Asamoa-Caesar becomes the first Black and the youngest to serve as the nominee for the #US House of Representatives. He is also the first-ever Ghanaian American nominee for federal office in the #UnitedStates.
Speaking of his new status as Democratic nominee, Asamoa-Caesar said, “A hundred years ago, this wouldn’t have been possible. But today, because of all of you who exercised your right to vote, and voted for change — this is possible. Change is possible and change is coming. Thank you, and onwards to November.”
Kojo Asamoa-Caesar is a husband, a father, the son of #immigrants from #Ghana , #WestAfrica, a proud product of public schools and a #law school #graduate who chose to become a kindergarten teacher in #Oklahoma.
He will go on to face Republican incumbent Kevin Hern this fall.
